A refreshing road trip awakens the spirit. But it's almost always a way to get ourselves back in alignment with home after a break from home. This one is a remembrance of a wonderful trip and the wonderful comfort of home afterward.
When I looked at this finished painting it made me think of a recent trip (well if 2019 was recent!) with my family in Colorado. We had visited the stunning town of Telluride and on the drive home explored a dirt road where there was a beautiful, placid lake with people fishing.
The anticipation of the trip had waned and contented observation had taken over for the long road ahead through lovely scenes just as the sun was going down. The feeling of the winding road is much like the impression of one in this painting. As we drove around the lake we were surrounded by tall trees and mountains in the middle of summer. We were on our way home. And what a way home it was!
What about you? Been there? This also reminds me of the drive home from Massachusetts when we go through the Poconos of Pennsylvania. I thrill in being surrounded/engulfed by beautiful nature.
