Juanita Bellavance, Springtime on the river, from the Chestatee River portfolio, 2021, Acrylic on canvas, 36 x 72 inches
It seems to always lift my spirits when springtime comes. I love seeing the trees filled with green leaves as well as blooms on some of them. It thrills me to go on long drives through mountain roads surrounded by green and the occasional scenic views.
When I went to visit the Chestatee River in the spring and summer I realized there aren’t really blooming trees or flowers around the river. I even visited another river nearby which is larger and is fed by the Chestatee and didn’t see colorful blooms around.
If I continue with my river theme it will probably involve a lot of blue and green palettes without much pop of color as they say. I’m sure in autumn there will be color in the leaves at least. We’ll see how that goes when the time comes.
