As I made this painting I was concentration on having as much variation in it as possible. Intuitively I shifted the dark and light values of color. As happens so often, it was after the painting was complete that I experienced the sense of river about it.
I love the varied textures, patterns and tones throughout just like the banks of a river might be with its mossy areas, pebbly areas and rippling water areas. I could sit and study this painting endlessly.
