This is not my living room but the sense of peace this painting provides the room is an example of what I strive for in my paintings. Creating moments that give us pause drives me to make paintings. Especially large ones like this.
It’s a feeling similar to the one I experienced in January and February when visiting “my river,” the Chestatee. When there are only branches and few leaves there is a simplicity that almost magically transports us into a serene state. A mental reset.
Today I put this one on the wall in my living room to experience its power over my mental state first hand. That moment of pause I relate to as connection with spirit. It’s real.
