​Seeing the rocks and mud through the shallow water of a river is a nice difference from the usual flowing deeper water. It's an opportunity to see what's underneath. I find it magical when paint can create an effect like the raw appearance of stones, pebbles and mud.  Even the bank of the river has random pieces of nature's debris. It makes my heart sing when this happens.
