The beaches on the east coast near me have shorelines that are simple flat sand and water for as far as the eye can see. My first time at Portsmouth, NH I was intrigued with the huge boulders that went from the shore into the water. It was a nice change and fun to walk on the boulders. I thought it was a characteristic of Portsmouth.
Then I went to the ocean in Rockland, ME, and visited the Rockland Lighthouse. It was a thrill to walk a mile across boulders surrounded by water to the lighthouse. It's one of my favorite places to go!
Now I realize the boulders are all over New England both on land and sea! I love it!
